[Arts in Mission 2011, London]
In September, I was in London attending historical Arts in Mission Training Event. Global arts-mission leaders came together at All Nations College anticipating what God will do through this gathering. (read press release). Just like every people group needs Bible in their own language, people need to worship God using their heart music and artistic expressions. The job of worship-arts missionaries is to advocate and assist culturally appropriate worship for all peoples. Cultural diversity brings greater glory to God. When Christ is recognized and celebrated by worldwide communities, people will recognize that Christ is not a God who favors a specific region or culture but a global Savior and the Lord of all. That’s what our mission is all about.
[King's Region Glocal Worship Concerts]
We led several glocal worship gatherings (missional worship gatherings) this fall with King’s Region team in Dallas. We led Korean, English, and multilingual worship gatherings for Korean churches and international students. We sang global Christian songs and collected mission offering in purpose of sending instruments to churches overseas.
[Mentoring and Training]
In October, I met a group of worship leaders, songwriters, and musicians in Los Angeles. The purpose of this meeting was to give them a framework of arts ministry and to provide mentoring to those who want to develop their own messages. I met about 20 Korean Diaspora worship-artists who grew up or came from various places like New Zealand, Vietnam, Honduras, Paraguay and Japan.
[Writing Songs and Articles]
Two of my new songs, “This is Eternal Life” and “Sing to The Lord All the Earth“, were released in Korea through Anointing Ministries. The title of the album is called Songs of Worshipper Vol. 2. Also, I’m currently working on Glocal Worship Manual and contributing a couple of articles for Ethnodoxology Handbook. Both will be published in 2012.
[Arts in Mission Korea]
Jaewoo and Joy will be coordinating and teaching Arts in Mission track for Mission Korea Conference in summer 2012. We’ve been praying for the opportunity to launch Arts in Mission in Korea. They are expecting 5,500 young Koreans who are passionate for world evangelization for this conference and this will be a great opportunity for us to mobilize Arts missionaries.
